Lyon

Arriving into Lyon in the early afternoon, we took a bus over towards our hostel in the Pentes de la Croix Rousse area.
It was beginning to drizzle, so we dropped our bags and headed out for brunch!

I then managed to fit in my first run of the trip!! Amazing views over Lyon and overall really nice to get back after a few days off!

Overall, a fab first afternoon!
On our only full day in Lyon, we began the day by heading up to Notre Dame - no, not that one! The Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière sits atop the hill, overlooking the city with stunning views of everything below.

A short walk away, we then explored the Théâtre Gallo Romain, a Roman amphitheatre which is still used for concerts in the warmer months!

After this, we made our way back down the hill on everyone's favourite, a FUN-icular!

After an indoor picnic to escape the rain, we ventured out to find the Traboule et Cour des Voraces, an incredible brutalist staircase in the courtyard of a traditional apartment building.

Afterwards, we headed over to the Museum of Fine Arts, which alongside portraits by Picasso, Monet, and Dupret, had a phenomenal collection of (stolen) Egyptian sarcophagi.

After a very fancy meal, it was time to head back to the hostel for a good night's sleep before heading on in the morning!
