Paris

Our first evening, we arrived into Paris around 5pm, and headed across to our hostel. Rush hour on the metro with our snail shell-like bags was not particularly fun, but we made it. Once we'd settled in, we found some Bánh mì and ate them while watching the sun set over the Seine!

On day two, we had a leisurely breakfast at a fab cafe, before wandering over to the Eiffel Tower.

We both loved how much 'empty' space the city has - especially compared to London, where every spare piece of land has been auctioned off, Paris has wide pavements with basketball courts in the middle!
We had a fab view of the tower, and read our books for a while underneath.

After a quick bite to eat, we headed over to relive the first stop of the 2019 KWS French Trip - Jardin du Luxembourg! Nearby, we found a wonderful set of little bookshops, which we enjoyed exploring on our way to Notre Dame!

We then headed back for a couple of hours, finishing the day with a lovely glass of rosé and an evening stroll.

Day three began with a breakfast of berries in the park - complete with delicious pastries from a patisserie! We then hopped on the metro and made our way over to the Conciergerie, via the amazing Abbey Bookshop.

The Conciergerie, once the palace of the French Kings in the middle ages, became a prison after the revolution. Many thousands were held there, including Marie-Antoinette. We loved exploring it, although weren't convinced by the 'Histopad' tour that we sampled!

After a pizza lunch, we wandered through the streets to the Coulée Verte René-Dumont, the Parisian version of the New York High Line.

After a potter and a read, we headed back before finishing the day with a wonderful meal at a nearby Lebanese.

On day four, our final day in Paris, we headed over to catch a glimpse of the Arc De Triomphe - it would be rude to leave Paris without seeing it! Afterwards, we went to the Louvre, and sat outside enjoying some people watching!

After a delicious brunch, we walked over to the Le Grand Rex, a gigantic art deco cinema, to experience the Studios attraction in the basement. Unlike anything we'd ever done before, the Studios walked you through making a film, in a crazy interactive way!

We then headed back to the hostel to unwind and pack our bags, before heading out for our best meal yet at La Cantine Lourmel - steak frites and a very generous (and reasonably priced) caraf of Merlot made for a brilliant evening!
